Students in F-1 visa status on practical training who completed degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields (will be able to extend their practical training period from twelve to twenty-nine months. Students in F-1 visa status with pending or approved H-1B petitions -- regardless of what field their degree is in -- will be able to extend their F-1 status until the latter of the date their H-1B petition is decided, or the October 1, 2008 start date of an approved petition.

We are building a website, www.citizenshipyes.com, designed to help qualified green card holders apply for citizenship with the advice of an attorney at a very reasonable price. The online entry page is not quite complete. (Check again in late April.) For now, the site offers a lot of information about citizenship: who is eligible, who should and should not apply, updates on immigration law, etc. Enjoy browsing the site and learning about applying for citizenship.

Tereza Pereira and Carlos Lima, Brazilians who have lived in the United States for nearly twenty years, were granted permanent residence in the United States at the US Immigration Court in Hartford on Friday, March 7. Tereza was arrested by a team of ICE agents more than a year ago. A phone call to Attorney Michael Boyle late that night began the legal saga that ended with yesterday's successful hearing.
